The Head of Retail Operations & Facilities is accountable for creating a safe, simple, efficient and consistently executed operating environment across the retail estate. The role combines the strongest disciplines of central retail operations: operating standards, labour and workload planning, retail change deployment, compliance, asset reliability, supplier performance, energy management, insight and continuous improvement.
Working across stores, field operations, and head office, the head of retail operations turns commercial and customer propositions into practical store execution, protects business continuity and ensures store teams can devote the maximum possible time to customers.
The Role
As Head of Retail Operations, you will lead the central retail operations function, ensuring our stores have the tools, processes, systems and support they need to succeed.
Working closely with our retail leadership team and central support functions, you will drive operational improvements, lead business-wide initiatives and ensure the effective delivery of key projects.
Your focus will be on simplifying operations, improving productivity and enabling our store teams to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
Key responsibilities include:
Operational Excellence: Develop and implement effective processes, policies and standards that drive consistency and efficiency across our store network.
Strategic Delivery: Translate business priorities into clear operational plans, ensuring successful execution across the retail estate.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to simplify ways of working, reduce costs and improve store productivity.
Project Leadership: Lead the operational delivery of key business initiatives, including new store openings, system improvements and change programmes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong relationships across Retail, Buying, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Finance, HR and IT to ensure seamless operational delivery.
Communication & Engagement: Strengthen communication between our central teams and stores, ensuring colleagues are informed, supported and equipped to succeed.
Performance & Compliance: Drive effective operational controls, risk management and performance improvement.
About You
We're looking for an accomplished retail operations professional who can combine strategic thinking with practical execution.
You'll bring:
Proven experience in a senior retail operations or central operations role within a multi-site retail business.
Strong commercial awareness and a track record of delivering measurable operational improvements.
Experience leading complex projects, implementing change and influencing cross-functional teams.
Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
A passion for simplifying processes, improving efficiency and supporting frontline teams.
A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving retail environment.
